Welcome to my website! I'm Flora, the founder of Flourish Mind. Originally from Iran, my journey led me to Australia eight years ago as a refugee. I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in social work from the University of South Australia. My passion lies in championing social justice and empowering individuals to reach their fullest potential.
As a Registered Social Worker, I draw from my own life experiences and deeply value the lessons learned along the way, shaping my path and instilling in me a profound belief in the resilience of the human spirit. With years of experience spanning various sectors including government and non-governmental organizations, I've served as a lecturer, senior counsellor, social worker/support coordinator, and mental health clinician.
Being multilingual in Farsi (Persian), Turkish, Dari, and English, I bring a unique perspective to my work. Having navigated personal battles with mental health and the challenges of refugee life, I have worked with a diverse range of issues including family/domestic violence, sexual assault, disability, mental health, gambling and gaming addiction, and blood-borne viruses, working with individuals across the lifespan from children to adults.
My advocacy work is fuelled by a commitment to truly listen to individuals, recognising and honouring their choices and agency in shaping their lives.
Together, let's navigate the complexities of life, embrace our strengths, and create a world where everyone has the opportunity to flourish.
